Moovy moves households and offices from Toronto and the GTA to Hamilton, Barrie, Kitchener-Waterloo, Niagara, London, Windsor and Ottawa. The same crew loads, drives and unloads — nothing is handed to another carrier on the way. Licensed, $2,000,000 insured, and priced like a local move: an hourly crew rate plus one truck fee for the route.

How a Long Distance Move Is Priced
The examples below are for a typical 1-bedroom move with 2 movers at $119 per hour, leaving from central Toronto. Larger homes need more hours or a bigger crew, and the truck fee stays the same for the route.
Planning examples before HST, not fixed quotes. The exact pickup and delivery addresses, inventory, crew size, access at both ends and total moving time change the result, and a route that starts in North York or Scarborough can fall into a different distance bracket than one starting downtown. Send us both addresses and we confirm the bracket and the estimated hours before you book.
What Is Included in a Long Distance Move
One crew, door to door
The movers who wrap and load your furniture in Toronto are the ones who unload it at your new address. No warehouse in between, no second truck, no waiting for a delivery window days later.
Packed for the road
Loaded for a long drive
Heavy pieces go at the base, delicate items away from pressure, and larger pieces are strapped to the truck wall. A load that cannot shift on the 401 arrives the way it left.
Weekends and holidays are billed at the same hourly rate as a Tuesday. Month-ends and the summer fill first, so book as soon as you have a closing or lease date.
Insured at both addresses
The $2,000,000 commercial general liability policy covers the move from your Toronto door to the new one. If your new building or condo board needs a Certificate of Insurance naming them, tell us who to name and we issue it at no charge before moving day.
Moving to or from Toronto on a longer route? Send both addresses and we come back with the crew size, the hours and the truck fee for that route.

Small Long Distance Moves and Single Rooms
A long distance move does not have to fill a 26 ft truck. A studio moving to Waterloo for the school year, a one-bedroom going to London, or a few pieces of furniture heading to a parent's house in Cobourg are run with 2 movers and a smaller truck, so the hours stay low and the truck fee is the only route-based cost. Tell us what is going and we match the truck to the load rather than sending the largest one we have.

How to Prepare for a Long Distance Move
On a long route there is no coming back for the thing you forgot, so preparation matters more than on a local move. Have everything small in closed, taped boxes before the crew arrives, labelled by the room it goes to at the new address. Measure the big pieces against the doors and stairs of the new home: a sofa that fit out of a Toronto semi does not always fit into an older house in London. Keep passports, keys, medication, documents and chargers in your own car, along with anything we cannot carry: propane tanks, flammable liquids, explosives and toxic substances. Plants usually travel fine on a day trip; tell us about them and the crew will look at them on the day. Empty and defrost the fridge the day before, and if the new building has a loading dock or elevator, book it for the afternoon rather than the morning, so the crew is not waiting after the drive.

Long Distance Moving FAQ
Which areas do you cover for long distance moves?
From Toronto, the GTA and Durham Region to cities across Ontario: Hamilton, Barrie, Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, London, Windsor, Ottawa, Orillia and Cobourg, in either direction. For a destination outside Ontario, call us and we will confirm whether we can take the route.
How much does a long distance move from Toronto cost?
A typical 1-bedroom move with 2 movers runs about $945 to $1,065 to Hamilton, $1,085 to $1,205 to Kitchener, $1,335 to $1,455 to London and $2,290 to $2,410 to Ottawa, before HST. The crew is billed by the hour and the truck fee depends on the round-trip distance; larger homes add hours or a third mover.
Do you charge by the kilometre?
No. Labour is hourly with a 3-hour minimum, and the distance is covered by a single truck fee set by the round-trip kilometres between the two addresses. There is no fuel surcharge and no per-kilometre rate on top of it.
How long does a long distance move take?
Loading and unloading take about as long as a local move of the same size, plus the one-way drive. Most Ontario routes are completed in one day; we confirm the expected hours and the arrival window when we send your estimate.
Is my furniture insured on the road?
Yes. Every move runs under Moovy's $2,000,000 commercial general liability policy, and the crew checks the furniture with you before loading and again after unloading. A certificate naming your new building is issued at no charge on request.
Can you do a long distance move on short notice?
Yes, when a crew and truck are free for the date. We move seven days a week, holidays included, at the same hourly rate. Call us with the date and both addresses and we check availability the same day.
Do you offer storage between the two addresses?
No. We move door to door in one trip. If you have rented a storage unit yourself, we can move your belongings into it or out of it as part of the route; it counts as an extra stop billed at the same hourly rate.
